In a way, the artists of ...That's a good point. In a way, the artists of that time had similar influence to journalists in their ability to influence public opinion. People tended to believe that if it was on canvas, or if they read it in print, then it had to be true! And I do not mean to imply in any way that Remington was exaggerating his views of the West.
